Overview
SHUNTING SYSTEM
The shunting system are designed to reduce the intracranial pressure to a safe limit by draining excess CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid) to other part of the body or into the drainage bag
The Shunts are designed into 2 versions
- Non Antibiotic Impregnated Shunt
- Antibiotic Impregnated Shunt
The Antibiotic Impregnated shunts have impregnated catheters that will help reduce colonization of gram-positive bacteria on the tubing surface
Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV)
ETV is an alternative procedure to shunt surgery. The surgeon makes a hole in the third ventricle to allow the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to escape to the brain’s surface, where it will be absorbed.
